Does anyone know of the Sartor sodalis (Sodality or Confraternity of Tailors)? It was the label my great-grandfather Bartosch used to identify his profession.
Was Sartor sodalis a formal association, or just a way of saying he was a Journeyman Tailor? Did membership involve paying dues? Would there have been any benefits for his widow (and her child) after he died?
