Help with interpreting word in death record written in Old German in 1868

Witte ancestry
I am unable to decipher or interpret the word in these two death records in 1868, that precedes the name Ferdinand Witt. It is repeated in front of his name in the baptism records of 6 of his children, however, in the first two children's baptism records it has the word "Muller"/miller in front, so presume this word is also an occupation.
Any help greatly appreciated.
