While searching various USA newspapers from the 1800's have come across various articles listing multiple German emigration/immigration related societies, including the following: German Emigration Society, German Emigrant Society, German Emigrants Friends Society, German Lutheran Emigration Society, German Immigration Society (taking into account the accuracy of newspapers 150+/- yrs ago names may not be accurate). Google searches suggest none of these groups still exist or are active. Does anyone know if records from these or similar German groups still exist, and if so, where are they located and do they have any genealogical value? Additionally, this question also applies to any German State sponsored societies that may have existed during this time frame. Thanks.
