Father's birth certificate

Christine Wilson Hoßelbarth
Backstory: I applied for, and received, my birth certificate to find out the name of my father, whom I never knew, and my German mother (long deceased) refused to ever give me any info on her family or my father, so I'm starting from zero here. I'm 69 years old. I did not grow up in Germany.

The name on my birth certificate does not match any names on My Heritage or Ancestry, nor do the DNA matches come up with anything other than 4th-5th cousins. The closest match was a name for whom the death certificate says he predeceased my birth by two years - oddly enough I found some names of his children matching the names of a couple of people my mother spoke of as looking after me when I was very young, maybe 2 or three years old. Long story, sorry.

My question is, would I be allowed to access the birth record of the father listed on my birth certificate? Any other information on him that is available to me? I have searched all the databases for the names and literally zero results. I realise many Germans do not do DNA as well, so that's probably part of the problem, so it will only be a paper trail to follow.

It's something I desperately would like to know, as I don't know where I came from, nor do I have any info on any family. I feel like I have no connections anywhere regarding family. Even my mother's maiden name does not bring up any information. All references are before her time.

Any suggestions are very much appreciated.appreciated.

Thank you for reading.

Since you have a name. Still try the likes of Ancestry but use * for some of the letters and allow for likely uses of ss in the name. Your question about your father's birth certificate is probably no as it will fall in a privacy period. But still worth trying. What you really need to do is find a church book entry? This may have additional useful information. This isn't a lot of help but consider other spellings of the name.

Thank you for taking the time to write.

Yes, I did think it was .unlikely I'd be able to get that. I have tried all the ancestry sites, and there are a few names that match but all are from the 1800's rather than the 1920' period I need. I'm aware that many Germans also don't do ancestry or DNA tests and unfortunately I don't know which records to search without any data other than the name of my father on  the bc. I find only fourth cousins by DNA.

I'm starting to feel like I dropped out of the sky as a baby, lol. Every avenue I have looked at is a dead end.

But again, thank you, I will try your suggestions.

Regards.
