Hi -- I am trying to locate the town in Bavaria that my German ancestors emigrated from. The Wagners and Rucks arrived in the Ellenville area -- specifically Wawarsing / Napanoch -- about 1840 and lived there thru there death in the 1890s. Their church was St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Ellenville. Today it has merged with St. Mary's Church with all records in one repository. I am hoping church records will provide some clues. The church rectory doesn't return calls or respond to notes. Does anyone have any contacts with this church? I understand that eventually these records will be digitized by Find My Past in conjunction with Archives of the Archdiocese of New York. But that could be some time and I live far away.
Secondly, has anyone seen any research on the large Bavarian arrivals in the Ellenville area in the 1840s - 1860s?
