Bissingen, Wurttemberg

aschmidlin
My G-Grandfather's marriage record shows he was born in Bissingen, Wurttemberg in 1861.
From what I have learned, there are 3 different townlands in Wurttemberg named Bissingen.  There is Bissingen an der Tek, in the District of Esslingen. Second, there is Bissingen in the District of Dillingen, and third, there is Bietigheim-Bissingen in the District of Ludwigsburg.
Is anyone familiar with these areas?  What are your thoughts as to how I may find the correct town?

Hi Alan,

Bissingen in the district of Dillingen belongs to Bavaria - you can cancel that.

That leaves Bissingen near Kirchheim Tek and Bissingen near Ludwigsburg.
What you need now is a family name and the date of an event (birth, marriage, death). Then you look in the corresponding church records and hopefully you will find what you are looking for.
The Protestant church records for both towns have been digitized and can be viewed at www.Archion.de.
If you have a name and date I can look it up for you.

Regards
